La Unidad de ensayos para la validación de la actividad biológica de compuestos o extractos, es un servicio que ofrece la Universidad Pablo de Olavide, dirigido por el Dr, Manuel Jesús Muñoz. El modelo animal usado es el nematodo Caenorhabditis elegans. Este modelo permite un gran versatilidad y una enorme potencia de cribado. Gracias a la enorme experiencia con dicho nematodo acaparada por el grupo de investigación, se ofrecen servicios para el testeo de nuevos potenciales fármacos en muy diferentes modelos ya existentes o se plantean estrategias novedosas para aquellos problemas que aún no estén modelizados. Entre otros podemos destacar:
-Ensayos de toxicidad in vivo para nuevos compuestos.
-Ensayos sobre modelos de enfermedades metabólicas como obesidad, diabetes, infertilidad, galactosemia…
-Ensayos sobre modelos de enfermedades neurodegenerativas como Alzheimer, Parkinson, Corea de Huntington, Atrofia Muscular Espinal…
-Ensayos sobre efectos en longevidad o resistencia a estrés.
The Unit of assays for validating the biological activity of compounds or extracts is a service offered by the Universidad Pablo de Olavide, directed by Dr. Manuel Jesús Muñoz Ruiz. The animal model used is the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. This model allows great versatility and high throughput screening. Thanks to the enormous experience with this nematode accumulated by the research group, services are offered for testing new potential drugs in many different existing models or novel strategies are proposed for those problems that are not yet modeled.
