NBD | Nostrum Biodiscovery is a joint spin-off of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB).
NBD uses its own novel proprietary modeling technologies such as structure simulation, artificial intelligence algorithms, and supercomputing resources for speeding up all its pipelines, increasing the success ratio and profitability of molecular design and directed enzyme evolution.
Moreover, the proprietary technologies are grouped in a very adaptable and customizable software platform that can be licensed to any company either developing new small molecules, enhancing enzymes or facing molecular design and modeling challenges in their day-to-day activities.
Finally, NBD also has a portfolio of co-developed products with some of its clients.
NBD software platform is based in PELE. PELE is an unconventional molecular modeling program which combines a Monte Carlo stochastic approach with protein structure prediction algorithms and is able to run in supercomputing environments. It has a solid proven track record of solving a wide variety of flexible molecular recognition problems, focusing on protein-ligand interactions (including protein-protein and protein-peptide ones). It was developed over 15 years at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
Its use is focused on molecular design, in the creation of molecular models, in the directed evolution of enzymes and in the design of PluriZymes.
It is currently at TRL 8 (system complete and qualified) and is expected to be at TRL 9 (actual system proven in operational environment) when completing the Graphical User Interface.
