Fundación Medina

FUNDACIÓN MEDINA is a non-for-profit Research Organization focused on the discovery of new drugs for unmet medical needs. It has been established in 2008 as a public-private partnership between la Junta de Andalucía, The University of Granada and MSD de España from the former R&D center of MSD in Spain (CIBE) leveraging more than 50 years in drug discovery experience from microbial natural products and preclinical assessment of new candidates.

MEDINA involves a multidisciplinary group of scientists with an extended experience in the pharma, biotech and academic sectors with expertise in molecular and cellular biology, microbiology and chemistry of natural products, compound management, automation and bioinformatics.

MEDINA is a high throughput screening center and partner of the European Research Infrastructure EU-OPENSCREEN. We are involved in many European professional associations and strategic research networks: member of BEAM Alliance of biotech companies in antibiotic discovery, funding member of the Spanish Association for the discovery of new antibiotics AD-ES, HTS node of the Spanish Research  Network on Tropical Diseases (ISCIII-RICET), partner of IRAADD (International Research Alliance for Antibiotic Discovery and Development), a new transnational network of the JPIAMR Virtual Research Institute, partner of the Metabolomics Network MetaboRed.

MEDINA is  focused on collaborative research programs with Pharma and Biotech companies and Academic centers worldwide leveraging one of the most diverse natural product libraries and cutting-edge HTS technology platforms.  We are engaged in the discovery of novel small molecule natural products and new biomarkers in different therapeutic areas, and provide a broad range of services in drug discovery.
